With 15 years of sewing experience, including published quilt patterns, I know a lot about textiles and I can find the coziest and most comfortable fabrics for sleeping and lounging. I'm also a plus size woman, so accommodating sizing and a slim fit are very important to me and they form the heart of this guide.

I emailed Cora Harrington, author of In Intimate Detail: How to Choose, Wear, and Love Lingerie, and founder and editor of the recently defunct The Lingerie Addict. She taught me how to care for the silk and how the clothes fit and scaled for different sizes. I spoke to several luckyplussize employees about what they sleep on and their favorite brands. To find pajamas and pants to test, I read reviews from numerous bloggers, searched for plus-size brands, and used Instagram to find more.
